  {"id":98722,"date":"2024-11-08T20:04:19","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T20:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=98722"},"modified":"2024-11-08T20:04:19","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T20:04:19","slug":"uri-to-celebrate-international-education-week-nov-18-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2024\/11\/uri-to-celebrate-international-education-week-nov-18-22\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 to celebrate International Education Week Nov. 18-22"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Nov. 8, 2024 \u2013 At the 溏心vlog免费B站, global education is more than an academic pursuit\u2014it\u2019s a core part of the University\u2019s mission to equip students, faculty, and staff with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive as leaders in an interconnected world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/iew\/\">International Education Week,<\/a> from Nov. 18 to 22, is a national initiative launched by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, highlighting the importance of preparing individuals to succeed in an interconnected world. 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s celebration of International Education Week reflects its commitment to global engagement, inviting the entire 溏心vlog免费B站 community to explore international issues, celebrate cultural diversity, and deepen our role as a globally minded university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s activities are coordinated by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Office of Global Initiatives, which aims to create accessible, impactful global education opportunities for the community both at home and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the week, members of the 溏心vlog免费B站 community will have opportunities to participate in events that showcase 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s dedication to global engagement, including interactive workshops with renowned scholar <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/iew\/darla-k-deardorff\/\">Darla Deardorff<\/a>, a Fulbright program session and celebration, study abroad opportunities, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Nov. 21<\/strong>, 溏心vlog免费B站 is honored to welcome Deardorff, the UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Competences at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and a research fellow at Duke University. Deardorff will deliver workshops throughout the day for students, faculty, and staff on \u201cDeveloping Intercultural Competence through <a href=\"https:\/\/iccglobal.org\/developing-intercultural-competencies-through-story-circles\/\">UNESCO Story Circles,\u201d<\/a> as well as a session on \u201cFacilitating Skills for the UNESCO Story Circles.\u201d The sessions will take place in the Memorial Union Ballroom between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Space is limited and advanced <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/iew\/darla-k-deardorff\/\">registration<\/a> is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global Initiatives is also partnering with 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/innovate\/\">Innovation Labs<\/a> for the inaugural <a><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/innovate\/cyberfest-international-cultural-exchange\/\">CyberFestival: International Cultural Exchange<\/a>. This festival fosters collaboration, cultural exchange, and skill development between students from 溏心vlog免费B站 and TU Braunschweig in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking place in a fully virtual setting from <strong>Nov. 20-21<\/strong>, these cross-cultural events will bring together students from the U.S. and Germany through interactive workshops, showcases, and more. Participants will gain valuable experiences to enhance their resumes and professional portfolios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>溏心vlog免费B站 is also collaborating with the <a href=\"https:\/\/worldaffairscouncilofrhodeisland.wildapricot.org\/\">World Affairs Council of Rhode Island<\/a> to host an event supporting 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s dedication to public diplomacy and community impact on <strong>Nov. 19 <\/strong>at 3 pm in the Higgins Welcome Center. Students will hear from members about ways to engage in public diplomacy right here in Rhode Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Nov. 19<\/strong>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/internationalizing-the-curriculum-through-virtual-exchange?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=widget&amp;utm_source=University+of+Rhode+Island\">session<\/a> sponsored by Global Initiatives, the Harrington School of Communication and Media and the Department of Communication Studies will highlight the potential of Virtual Exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning to promote intercultural communication skills and long-distance learning in communication, sustainability, and other areas of global learning. The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. in Ranger Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Nov. 20<\/strong>, faculty are invited to join a session on the <a href=\"https:\/\/fulbrightscholars.org\/\">Fulbright Scholar Program<\/a> to learn about the program\u2019s mission, the application process, and available opportunities to teach, conduct research, and collaborate internationally. Following the session, a celebration will honor and recognize 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s vibrant Fulbright community and celebrate the contributions of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Fulbright recipients to 溏心vlog免费B站 and the global community. The information session and celebration to follow will take place in Green Hall at 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Nov. 20<\/strong>, 溏心vlog免费B站 will also commemorate the addition of <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/international-education-week-flag-hanging-ceremony\">new flags<\/a> to the International Atrium in 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Memorial Union to welcome international students from Azerbaijan, Iraq, Mauritius, and Uzbekistan. Since 2012, this event has celebrated 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s international diversity and the University\u2019s commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all students.
