KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Sept. 30, 2024 \u2013 Twenty visual artists are coming to Kingston to present work on a timely theme, and depict a provocative topic this presidential election season \u2014 with a compelling art exhibit on \u2018The Politics of Personality,\u2019 Oct. 1 through Dec. 12 at the 溏心vlog免费B站. The exhibit opens on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Lippitt Hall, with an opening reception Thursday, Oct. 17, 4 to 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibit is sponsored by 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Department of Art and Art History in conjunction with the Honors Program\u2019s fall Colloquium, \u2018Democracy in Peril<\/a>,\u2019 which brings notable speakers to campus on Tuesday nights this fall, including recent speakers: Zach Beauchamp of Vox and author Daniel Ziblatt (How Democracies Die<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow does politics impact individuals?\u201d says show coordinator Steven Pennell. \u201cThis exhibit will explore the hype and the reality of politics today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Cuban-born artist Raphael D\u00edaz comes to 溏心vlog免费B站 with an international reputation and is passionate about issues of immigration reform and women\u2019s rights. The opening reception for the fall art exhibit is Thursday, Oct. 17.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Politics of Personality exhibit will share the perspectives of 20 artists developed in response to the show\u2019s theme, examining the politics of personality encountered in today\u2019s political landscape. The project will include thoughtful conversations inspired by the artists\u2019 perspectives on a range of issues \u2014 from classism and corruption to racism and women’s rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibiting artists include alumni Raphael D\u00edaz and Zoey Stites with Deanna Camputaro, Ted DeLucia, Melanie Ducharme, Ana Flores, Susan Fossati, Susan Garland, Ricky Gagnon, Lois Harada, Monique Rolle-Johnson, Don Mays, Jordan Seaberry, Gershon Stark, Joel Rosario-Tapia, Anthony Tomaselli, Mark Wholey and Joy Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibit is free and open to the public and viewable Monday through Friday, including before the colloquium\u2019s Tuesday night lectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hera Gallery<\/a>, in nearby Wakefield, is also gathering thoughts on democracy from attendees at each week\u2019s colloquium lecture for an upcoming exhibition on \u2018Democracy Under Siege,\u2019 which opens Oct. 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Politics of Personality exhibit is located on the third and fourth floor lobbies of Lippitt Hall at 溏心vlog免费B站, with elevator access; see <\/em>here<\/em><\/a> for visitor parking information.
