KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 June 10, 2024 \u2013 With Mexico\u2019s recent election of its first female president, 溏心vlog免费B站 professors Kathleen McIntyre and Ashlea Rundlett are available to share their expert perspectives on what this means for the U.S.\u2019s neighbor to the south and what that entails for women in politics in North America overall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
WHO: <\/strong>College of Arts and Sciences faculty Kathleen McIntyre (gender and women\u2019s studies) and Ashlea Rundlett (political science).<\/p>\n\n\n\n BACKGROUND:<\/strong> Perspective on women\u2019s changing roles in politics in Mexico and North America, the impact of Mexico’s gender quotas in politics, and how feminist movements paved the way for two major candidates to be women in last week’s election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kathleen McIntyre<\/a> specializes in gender in modern Latin America. McIntyre\u2019s current research project centers on women and political activism in Mexico, 1900 to 1955. She received a 2020 National Endowment for the Humanities award for her research. McIntyre is also the recipient of a 2024-25 Fulbright Research Fellowship to Oaxaca, Mexico, where she has been studying and researching since 2000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ashlea Rundlett<\/a> specializes in Latin American politics. She is one of the coordinators of this fall\u2019s 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium on \u201cDemocracy in Peril<\/a>.\u201d She has a special focus on political corruption and research methodology. Her published work has appeared in journals such as the American Political Science Review <\/em>and the Journal of Conflict Resolution<\/em>.
