The programs are supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Tricia Lourenco Boucher, Boots to Bushels (B2B) program director, the program began as a way to connect veterans with careers in agriculture; along the way, has expanded to include beginning farmers and traditionally underserved populations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-1024x771.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95323\" width=\"527\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-1024x771.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-768x579.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-364x274.jpg 364w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-500x377.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour-1000x753.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2024\/05\/B2B-farm-tour.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px\" \/>
The Boots to Bushels program aims to support veterans, active military personnel, socially disadvantaged farmers, and beginning farmers in agricultural pursuits.
