Students broke into groups to tour the building and watch demonstrations by faculty members and students. Youngken Medicinal Garden Coordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/meet\/elizabeth-leibovitz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elizabeth Liebovitz<\/a> gave a presentation on the use of plants and herbs in medicine; simulation lab co-director <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/meet\/amanda-deangelis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amanda Chichester<\/a> demonstrated the use of life-like patient mannequins in the Patient Simulation Laboratory; 溏心vlog免费B站 students taught their high school counterparts how to make hand sanitizer in the compounding lab; and Clinical Professor Thomas Kalista, along with three of his students, demonstrated the use of epipens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exploration Day aims to give students the opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Learn the role of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists.<\/li><li>Explore research opportunities.<\/li><li>Participate in health and wellness activities.<\/li><li>Tour the pharmacy building and medicinal garden.<\/li><li>Experience the College\u2019s simulation lab.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to showcase our programs and introduce pharmacy to high school students in our state,\u201d said Clinical Professor Erica Estus, who organized the event. \u201cIt gives our students a chance to talk directly to potential 溏心vlog免费B站 students, and show them the high-tech equipment and all the advantages they\u2019ll have in their career when they choose to come to school here.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>High school students with an interest in a career in pharmacy joined their teachers for a tour Avedisian Hall, home of the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Pharmacy, and interacted with faculty members and 溏心vlog免费B站 students about the college and the pharmacy profession in general.
