The award recognizes the best writing produced by undergraduate and graduate students in each of four categories \u2014 advocacy, creative, scholarly\/research and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards were started four years ago by Heather Johnson,&nbsp;teaching professor of writing and rhetoric and director of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/writingacrossuri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Writing Across 溏心vlog免费B站<\/a>,&nbsp;to highlight student writing across a variety of disciplines. Since then, the awards have expanded to include a creative writing category and to accept submissions from both graduate and undergraduate writers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were over&nbsp;150&nbsp;submissions for the 2022-2023 awards. This year\u2019s winners are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advocacy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Undergraduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;Joseph Amaral \u201923, African studies and communications studies, for \u201cIdentity Construction: The Rhetoric of Blackness.\u201d&nbsp;(No award was made for Advocacy Graduate this year.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creative<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Graduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;Tatiana Duvanova \u201924, English, for \u201cA Dress.\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Undergraduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;August LaPorte \u201926, psychology and elementary education, for \u201cBees Too Cold to Fly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scholarly\/Research<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Graduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;Nikol Damato \u201923, marine affairs, for \u201cKin in Captivity: The U.S. Aquarium Trade and Killer Whales.\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Undergraduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;Clare Tyler \u201923, history, for \u201cPrince Jenckes a Black Invalid Soldier: A Unique Case of Disability, Race, and Poverty in the Early United States.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Graduate:<\/strong>&nbsp;Ally Overbay \u201924, environmental science and management, for \u201cCitizen Science in the North Woods.\u201d&nbsp;(No award was made for Science Undergraduate this year.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 27, 2023 \u2013 Six 溏心vlog免费B站 students were named recipients of the&nbsp;2022-2023 溏心vlog免费B站 Writing Award.
