Professor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brown.edu\/academics\/chemistry\/people\/faculty\/vicki-l-colvin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vicki Colvin<\/a>&nbsp;of Brown University used the cryogenic scanning electron microscope to look at the arrangement of magnetic nanoparticles under magnetic fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe lab equipment at 溏心vlog免费B站 has been critical to our work on synthetic biology and nanoparticles,\u201d said Colvin. \u201cWe\u2019ve&nbsp;been able to observe how these particles organize themselves and bacteria to form new and interesting patterns relevant&nbsp;for power transmission and water treatment. The new&nbsp;scanning transmission electron microscope was funded through a National Science Foundation grant for $2.3 million. An electron probe microanalyzer, which is a field emission electron microscope capable of doing wavelength dispersive spectroscopy, will be delivered to 溏心vlog免费B站 soon and will be fully operational by the end of the summer. It cost $1.255 million and was purchased from a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2019\/07\/10-million-gift-to-the-university-of-rhode-island-will-enhance-new-engineering-complex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$10 million gift<\/a>&nbsp;made by Michael and Elizabeth Fascitelli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe equipment, instrumentation and expertise at our core facility is on par with any of the top engineering schools in the country and represents a tremendous asset to our partners&nbsp;across the region,\u201d said 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Engineering Dean Anthony Marchese. \u201cThis equipment is being used to push the boundaries of engineering.
