  {"id":75882,"date":"2020-12-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/christiana-obeysumner-to-lecture-at-uri-on-racialized-ableism\/"},"modified":"2020-12-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T00:00:00","slug":"christiana-obeysumner-to-lecture-at-uri-on-racialized-ableism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2020\/12\/christiana-obeysumner-to-lecture-at-uri-on-racialized-ableism\/","title":{"rendered":"ChrisTiana ObeySumner to lecture at 溏心vlog免费B站 on racialized ableism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; December 7, 2020 &#8212; ChrisTiana ObeySumner, a social equity advocate, educator and consultant who is also Black, Indigenous, queer, non-binary, and multiply disabled, will give a lecture Tuesday, Dec. 8, as part of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium, \u201cChallenging Expectations, Disability in the 21st Century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ObeySumner\u2019s virtual lecture will bring awareness to the lived experience of racialized ableism and externalizing antiblackness, and dismantling the psychosocial paradigms that underlie social injustice and inaction.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture, \u201cDisability and Race\u201d will take place virtually Tuesday at 7 p.m. The link to the lecture can be found on the day of the talk in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/hc\/2020-challenging-expectations-disability-in-the-21st-century\/\">colloquium schedule <\/a>next to ObeySumner\u2019s name. This is the last of nine lectures, all presented virtually this semester because of COVID-19. If you haven\u2019t been able to watch the presentations at their actual dates and times, the Honors Colloquium coordinators invite you to watch nearly all of the lectures at uri.edu\/hc when it is convenient for you.<\/p>\n<p>ObeySumner is the chief executive officer of Epiphanies of Equity, a social equity consulting firm that specializes in social change, intersectionality, antiracism and disability justice.<\/p>\n<p>The organization is particularly interested in amplifying the importance of social equity and narrative identity development.
