{"id":75721,"date":"2020-09-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/comedian-activist-maysoon-zayid-to-lecture-on-disability-and-entertainment-industry\/"},"modified":"2020-09-28T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T00:00:00","slug":"comedian-activist-maysoon-zayid-to-lecture-on-disability-and-entertainment-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2020\/09\/comedian-activist-maysoon-zayid-to-lecture-on-disability-and-entertainment-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Comedian, activist Maysoon Zayid to lecture on disability and entertainment industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; September 28, 2020 &#8212; Maysoon Zayid, actress, comedian, writer and disability advocate known for having the most-viewed TED Talk of 2014, will give a lecture Tuesday Sept. 29 as part of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium, \u201cDisability in the 21st Century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lecture, \u201cDisability and Entertainment\u201d will take place virtually next Tuesday at 7 p.m. The link to the lecture can be found on the day of the lecture in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/hc\/2020-challenging-expectations-disability-in-the-21st-century\/\">colloquium schedule <\/a>next to Zayid\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>Zayid is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she is also a guest comedian in residence. She has also performed extensively across the U.S. and internationally, and was a headlined performer on the \u201cArabs Gone Wild Comedy Tour\u201d and \u201cThe Muslims Are Coming Tour.\u201d She is the co-founder and co-executive producer of the New York Arab American Comedy Festival and The Muslim Funny Fest, and was a full-time \u2018on air contributor\u2019 to <em>Countdown with Keith Olbermann<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her comedy and activism efforts, Zayid is an actress and a writer. Zayid has appeared on <em>In Deep Shift, 60 Minutes<\/em>, and <em>ABC News<\/em>. She has written for VICE and is a columnist for the <em>Daily Beast<\/em>.
