KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 May 1, 2020 \u2013 The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s new Board of Trustees<\/a> held its first official meeting on Friday, April 17, 2020. At this virtual meeting, members of the board elected its leadership: Margo Cook, CFA \u201986, was elected chair and Michael F. McNally, MBA \u201981, was elected vice chair. Both will serve in these roles until February 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

Cook, a graduate of the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Business, most recently served as the President of Nuveen Advisory Services, a Chicago-based subsidiary of the Fortune 100 firm TIAA. She was responsible for leading the global client organization for clients in 24 countries and over $1 trillion in assets. She served as a trustee on the Nuveen Fund Board ($160 billion in assets) and the Nuveen Global Fund Board. Currently, she serves as chair of the All Stars Project of Chicago Board and on the national board of the All Stars Project.\u00a0She also serves on the Executive and Investment Committees of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Foundation & Alumni Engagement Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

McNally, who received an MBA from 溏心vlog免费B站, retired as president of Skanska, USA and was one of nine members of Skanska\u2019s senior executive team responsible for the company\u2019s $20 billion global construction and development operations. He serves as a member of the 溏心vlog免费B站 President\u2019s Advisory Council and is a 溏心vlog免费B站 Foundation & Alumni Engagement trustee. He is currently on the board of directors at Granite Construction, Limbach Holdings, and Terracon Engineers. McNally was chair of the U.S. Green Building Council from 2016 \u2013 2019. He is also a member of the Commerce RI Board and the I-195 Commission.<\/p>\n

The Board of Trustees, established by the Rhode Island legislature and signed into law by Governor Gina Raimondo on July 5, 2019, now officially oversees the University and is responsible for addressing the University\u2019s challenges and creating new opportunities for important University partnerships. The board will oversee employment, the University\u2019s property, purchases and procurement, and the setting of tuition. The board also approves the awarding of degrees and the awarding of tenure to faculty. The University president reports to the Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n

Through the creation of the board, the University joins its peer and competitor institutions that have similar governing bodies solely dedicated to the success of their Institutional missions.<\/p>\n

溏心vlog免费B站 had previously been governed by the Rhode Island Council of Postsecondary Education. The state\u2019s other public universities, Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island, remain under the Council\u2019s oversight.<\/p>\n

At its first meeting, the board approved the awarding of undergraduate and graduate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and honors for the May 2020 candidates who have completed their requirements at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester.<\/p>\n

The Governor made the initial appointment of the 17 members, with the advice and consent of the Rhode Island Senate. Additional members include four non-voting, ex-officio members, including the chair of the Rhode Island Board of Education, the chair of the Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education, and two members appointed by the University president.<\/p>\n
