KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Jan. 9, 2020 \u2013 Maling Ebrahimpour, dean of the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Business, has been awarded the highest service honor from the Decision Sciences Institute, a global society of university professors, graduate students and practitioners who apply qualitative and quantitative research to problems faced by individuals and groups.<\/p>\n
Ebrahimpour, a longtime member, past president and vice president of the society, was recently recognized with the Dennis E. Grawoig Distinguished Service Award at the 2019 Decision Sciences Institute Conference in New Orleans. The Grawoig Award, named for one of the organization\u2019s founders, goes to a member who has selflessly provided service to the Institute in publicly recognized roles and behind the scenes.<\/p>\n
In choosing Ebrahimpour, the selection committee highlighted his role in revitalizing the Institute as national president from 2013 to 2014, his decade-long stewardship of the Institute\u2019s scholarly magazine, \u201cDecision Line,\u201d and numerous leadership roles on the national and regional level. He was also president of Northeast Decision Sciences Institute from 1997 to 1998.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs editor of \u2018Decision Line,\u2019 Maling worked very hard to ensure that timely information was provided to members but also worked with authors to publish interesting articles on professional development and new trends in research or practices,\u201d said DSI President Janet L. Hartley. \u201cAs president, he provided outstanding leadership during DSI\u2019s successful transition to implement newly approved by-laws. But perhaps more important is Maling\u2019s willingness to tirelessly contribute his time and effort to the Decision Sciences Institute whenever called upon.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a tremendous honor,\u201d said Ebrahimpour. \u201cSince joining DSI in 1983, I\u2019ve served in almost every capacity and have been active since I joined. This is my professional home where I\u2019ve met a lot of like-minded faculty and created a network of colleagues that shares common scholarly research interests.\u201d<\/p>\n
Along with being dean of the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Business, Ebrahimpour is the Alfred J. Verrecchia-Hasbro Inc. Leadership Chair in Business at 溏心vlog免费B站. He also served on the board of the Florida Holocaust Museum and is serving on the board of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International and Evergreen Living Services. He was the first person in Rhode Island selected as evaluator for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the first inducted into the Rhode Island Quality Hall of Fame.
