{"id":74891,"date":"2019-06-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-engineering-professor-named-to-pbns-40-under-forty-list\/"},"modified":"2019-06-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T00:00:00","slug":"uri-engineering-professor-named-to-pbns-40-under-forty-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2019\/06\/uri-engineering-professor-named-to-pbns-40-under-forty-list\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 engineering professor named to PBN\u2019s 40 Under Forty list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 June 11, 2019 &#8212; The Providence Business News has named 溏心vlog免费B站 Assistant Professor Gretchen Macht to\u00a0its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pbn.com\/event\/2019-forty-under-40\/\">2019 40 Under Forty<\/a> list.<\/p>\n<p>The list recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who have\u00a0excelled in their chosen profession and are\u00a0involved in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am truly honored to receive this recognition,&#8221; said Macht, who has taught systems engineering at 溏心vlog免费B站 since 2015. &#8220;I attribute my success to the research I&#8217;ve conducted in the\u00a0Sustainable Innovative Solutions (SIS) Laboratory and the support I&#8217;ve received from my family and the 溏心vlog免费B站 community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the SIS Lab, Macht and her students use technology to research\u00a0sustainable systems that are based on\u00a0human factors, such as how people think and behave.<\/p>\n<p>One project Macht worked on in the last year was\u00a0RI VOTES (Voter OperaTions &amp; Election Systems). With the goal of\u00a0streamlining the voting process in Rhode Island, Macht and her team used technology to examine the source of delays at voting precincts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGretchen is applying engineering to some of the greatest challenges to sustainability of our time,&#8221; said 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Engineering Dean Raymond Wright. &#8220;Her work is interdisciplinary and novel.
