All events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The series began with the annual planting of the \u201cField of Flags\u201d on 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Hammerschlag Mall. Colored flags, numbering 2,400 and each one representing 5,000 victims of the Holocaust, will be on display between the Multicultural Student Services Center and the Library through Wednesday, April 18. The flags provide a backdrop to Hillel\u2019s Holocaust Memorial Vigil, a moving ceremony of poetry, reading and songs that will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 12:15 p.m. in front of the Multicultural Student Services Center, 74 Lower College Road. Following the vigil, members of the AEPi Fraternity will lead a walk in silence.<\/p>\n<p>Other events are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Film screenings: \u201cThe Last Palmachnik\u201d and \u201cIda.\u201d<\/strong> In honor of Israel Memorial Day, \u201cThe Last Palmachnik\u201d tells the story of Omri Tal, a fallen Israeli soldier. It will be shown Monday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Hillel, 6 Fraternity Circle. Rhode Island\u2019s Israeli Emissary, Tslil Reichman, a friend of Tal\u2019s, will lead a discussion following the screening. The Academy Award winning film, \u201cIda,\u201d tells the story of a soon-to-be nun in post World War II Poland who discovers her Jewish ancestry. It will be shown in 100 Ranger Hall, Room 100, Ranger Road, Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. After the screening of \u201cIda,\u201d students who were in Professor Rob Cohen\u2019s\u00a0Film 351 class last spring will present their own creation of the film\u2019s trailer and will discuss what went into their production.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Israel Independence Day:<\/strong> Thursday, April 19, from noon to 2 p.m. A celebration with music, games, prizes and food outside the Memorial Union, 50 Lower College Road, to mark Israel\u2019s 70th birthday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shabbat (Sabbath) Service:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, April 20, 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:15 P.M., at Hillel. The service will be student-led and will honor graduating seniors. RSVP on Hillel\u2019s website, urihillel.org.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Photographer Alexandra Broches<\/strong> to speak Monday, April 23, at 4:30 p.m. at Hillel, about her photographs on display at Hillel. Her pictures tell the story of her family\u2019s life in the Netherlands at the onset of the Nazi invasion in World War II.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cJ-Time\u201d closes with comedian Joel Chasnoff<\/strong> Monday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at Hillel. His one-man show, \u201cIsrael &#8211; What\u2019s the Story?,\u201d is part stand-up, part interactive-theatre, and is guaranteed to make the audience laugh and learn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chasnoff first appeared at 溏心vlog免费B站 Hillel at the dedication weekend of the Norman M. Fain Hillel Center in 2010 and is returning to celebrate Israel\u2019s 70th birthday. Raised in Chicago and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Chasnoff enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces after graduation. That experience provided a wealth of comedic material for his memoir, \u201cThe 188th Crybaby Regime.\u201d He now performs and teaches improv, entertaining audiences all over the world. Chasnoff has performed at more than 1,000 Jewish events in North America and Europe and has appeared on Israeli late-night TV.
