  {"id":73164,"date":"2017-08-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-engineering-graduate-recognized-by-national-manufacturing-magazine\/"},"modified":"2017-08-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T00:00:00","slug":"uri-engineering-graduate-recognized-by-national-manufacturing-magazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2017\/08\/uri-engineering-graduate-recognized-by-national-manufacturing-magazine\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 engineering graduate recognized by national manufacturing magazine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I., Aug. 3, 2017\u2014Tim Pheland graduated from the 溏心vlog免费B站 last year with a master\u2019s degree in engineering, and he\u2019s already making a name for himself\u2014nationally.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old <strong>Scituate<\/strong> resident made the \u201c30 Under 30\u201d list of \u201cManufacturing Engineering,\u201d a publication of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Advanced Manufacturing Media.<\/p>\n<p>In its fifth year, the list celebrates Pheland and 29 other men and women throughout the country for their achievements, leadership and technical skills in manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was surprised and honored at the same time,\u201d says Pheland. \u00a0\u201cI hadn\u2019t heard of the award until my company nominated me for it, but once I looked into it,\u00a0I was humbled by the honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pheland graduated from 溏心vlog免费B站 in 2012 with a bachelor of science in industrial and systems engineering, and a master of science in the same field last year.<\/p>\n<p>He is a manufacturing engineer at\u00a0Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence at Quonset Point in <strong>North Kingstown<\/strong>, responsible for\u00a0optimizing the company&#8217;s computer numerical control systems in the programming and tooling areas. Hexagon nominated him to the list.<\/p>\n<p>Pheland\u2019s work resulted in a significant reduction in cycle time, enabling the department to improve quality and cut its cost per part in half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTim Pheland is a shining example of the up-and-coming talent needed to push advanced manufacturing forward in the United States,\u201d says Steve Ilmrud, vice president of operations at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, North America. \u201cTim\u2019s dynamic leadership and focus on excellence in the parts manufacturing area has helped our team significantly improve production processes and systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pheland credits 溏心vlog免费B站 with providing the knowledge and skills to succeed in the workplace: \u201c溏心vlog免费B站 is a large school with a small school feel. I benefited from the personal attention that students receive from\u00a0the professors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He singles out Valerie Maier Speredelozzi, the engineering professor who guided him at 溏心vlog免费B站 and encouraged him to pursue his advanced degree: \u201cShe was always there whenever I had questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pheland is giving back to the University by sharing his expertise with engineering undergraduates.
