Semple, Jr., New York Times Associate Editor of the editorial page. The lecture, &#8220;Environmental Policy: Will Bush Dismantle What Clinton Built?&#8221; will be held on Sunday, February 25, at 2 p.m. in the Coastal Institute Auditorium, 溏心vlog免费B站 Bay Campus, Narragansett.&#13; \tSemple will talk about Bill Clinton\u2019s environmental legacy and where that legacy is most vulnerable to President Bush and where he can build on it. Semple will describe the political landscape and environmental tone of Washington in the last eight years and what he expects from the next four years.&#13; \tBoth an editor and writer on The Times editorial page, Semple won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing in 1996 for his work on environmental issues and national politics. He began his career at The Times in 1963 as a general assignment reporter in the Washington, D.C., bureau and became a political reporter and White House correspondent during the Nixon administration.&#13; \tSemple was appointed deputy national editor, London bureau chief, and foreign editor during the 1970s. He served as editor of the Op-Ed page before being named associate editor of the Times editorial page in 1988. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has lectured extensively on domestic and foreign policy and the role of the press in shaping the news.&#13; \tThe Metcalf Institute was established in 1997 with an endowment from the foundations of three news organizations: A.H. Belo Corporation, owner of the Dallas Morning News and parent company of The Providence Journal, The Providence Journal Company, and the Philip Graham Fund, the foundation of The Washington Post. Additional funding was provided by the Telaka Foundation.
