\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. — October 31, 2000 — Hasbro CEO, Alan Hassenfeld, has been named Chairman of the 2001 World Scholar-Athlete Games. Mr. Hassenfeld’s appointment as Chair marks the seventh consecutive year that he has overseen the Institute for International Sport’s renowned scholar-athlete program. Dan Doyle, Executive Director of the Institute, stated of Mr. Hassenfeld’s appointment, “We have been blessed that Alan has chosen to continue to lead our scholar-athlete program. Not only has he been an incredibly effective chair, but he is truly one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of working with on any project.” Under Mr. Hassenfeld’s leadership, the Scholar-Athlete Games program, including the World Scholar-Athlete Games, the United States Scholar-Athlete Games and the Rhode Island Scholar-Athlete Games have flourished. In all cases, and based on Mr. Hassenfeld’s able leadership, no scholar-athlete program has ever finished with a deficit, and the Institute’s Scholar-Athlete Games programs have serviced over 6,000 young leaders from 158 countries and all 50 states.
