\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. — April 11, 2002 — The “piano kids”\u2014 children from various schools and towns in Rhode Island\u2014will get an opportunity to play the newly-restored Steinway baby grand piano in the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Memorial Union. A noontime concert, jointly sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Memorial Union Board, will be held there on Wednesday, April 17 from noon to 1 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n

Joe Parillo, a jazz pianist who heads the jazz program at 溏心vlog免费B站, dubs the young piano students “piano kids.” The concert grew out of a request from a parent asking if her child could perform. Parillo began auditioning other talented students recommended by local piano teachers. <\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve had faculty, students, and staff members perform this semester at our noontime concerts. I thought, why not children?” said Parillo, noontime concert coordinator. “溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Music Department wants to encourage their work as musicians. The concert is a great venue to offer them a performance place.” <\/p>\n
