{"id":71355,"date":"2002-04-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-04-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/cranston-west-wins-engineering-competition-at-uri\/"},"modified":"2002-04-01T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2002-04-01T00:00:00","slug":"cranston-west-wins-engineering-competition-at-uri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2002\/04\/cranston-west-wins-engineering-competition-at-uri\/","title":{"rendered":"Cranston West wins engineering competition at 溏心vlog免费B站"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; April 1, 2002 &#8212; Student engineers from Cranston West High School placed first place in the Rhode Island Test of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science (TEAMS) Competition, held recently at the 溏心vlog免费B站.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\tSponsored by the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) and the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Engineering, the TEAMS Competition is a two-part academic exam where teams of eight students work together on a series of multiple-choice questions related to various engineering situations.  Students were also required to describe and defend their solutions on open-ended questions related to the problems from the first part of the exam.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Cranston West and four other Rhode Island schools all scored higher than the national average.  Other participants include Blackstone-Millville Regional High School (second place), Tollgate High School (third place), Pilgrim High School (honorable mention), and Warwick Veterans High School (honorable mention).&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The following participants made up the winning Cranston West team: Dominick aRusso, Robert Deluca, Andrew Ginsberg, Bryan Grossi, Kurt Matarese, Thomas Ricardo, Joe Salsbury, and James Turco.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\tTEAMS competitions are designed to help students build their problem-solving skills across several academic areas and learn to work cooperatively as group members during the competition.  The experience introduces students to an engineering teamwork environment.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\tThe JETS program is a national non-profit education organization that has served the pre-college engineering community for 50 years.
