\nKINGSTON, R.I. — February 21, 2002 — Applications are now available for the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s four-year multicultural scholarship program. Now in its third year, the program is designed to encourage multicultural students to study environmental, food and agricultural sciences. <\/p>\n

\t“Today\u2019s complex environmental and agricultural problems require the attention of a wide range of individuals with different viewpoints and prospective solutions,” said scholarship coordinator Deborah Grossman-Garber. “This scholarship is designed to encourage underrepresented students to study these subjects.” <\/p>\n

\tIncoming freshmen choosing to study in 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s College of the Environment and Life Sciences and who qualify as economically, socially or culturally disadvantaged are eligible to apply. <\/p>\n

\tStudents awarded the scholarship will receive $5,750 per year for four years. Selection will be based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation, personal interviews, and evidence of interest and commitment to studying the required subject areas. <\/p>\n

The program currently supports seven students in four different areas of study. <\/p>\n

In his second year of his scholarship, sophomore Dioscaris Garcia of Central Falls said “I have come to consider the obvious financial award a very minute part of the scholarship. The feeling of pride that comes with being a USDA scholar sets the recipient apart from other students, mainly because of the selectivity and expectations that are required to be one of us. Future scholars will soon realize that there\u2019s no better feeling than having things be exactly as one expects after a long journey of hard work.”
