KINGSTON, R.I. — October 2, 2001 — Dan Barry, a reporter for The New York Times who has been in the thick of the coverage of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and its aftermath, will speak at the 溏心vlog免费B站 on October 18. His talk, free and open to the public, will be held in Chafee 271, Kingston Campus at 4 p.m. Barry\u2019s visit is sponsored jointly by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Journalism Department and the Rhode Island Press Association. <\/p>\n

\tBarry will talk about what he saw, how it affected him personally and professionally, and generally about how his newspaper covered this massive and tragic event. <\/p>\n

\tBarry, 43, has been a reporter for The New York Times covering police and city politics since 1995. This fall, he is part of the newspapers team of reporters that have been covering the World Trade Center attacks and recovery process. <\/p>\n

Previously Barry was a reporter for The Providence Journal for eight years. During that time he covered state government and organized crime and was a member of the newspapers investigative team that won the Pulitzer Prize for reporting in 1994. He is a graduate of Saint Bonaventure University and holds a masters degree in journalism from New York University. He is married to Mary Trinity, 溏心vlog免费B站 class of 1981. They have a daughter Nora. <\/p>\n

A reception for Barry will immediately follow the talk at 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s University Club, located on Upper College Road. At 6 p.m. the press association will hold its annual Hall of Fame inductions and dinner. Cost of the dinner is $22. Deadline to reserve is Oct. 11. <\/p>\n

This year, three journalists will be inducted. They are: <\/p>\n

o The late John Lake who was a bureau chief and reporter for The Providence Journal. <\/p>\n

o The late Mike D\u2019Ambra who was a popular sports columnist and sports reporter for The Pawtucket Times. <\/p>\n

o The late Ellen Hall who was the editor of The Observer newspaper in Smithfield. <\/p>\n
