\nKINGSTON, R.I. — April 3, 2003 — Moonlight, magic and midsummer madness pervade William Shakespeare\u2019s A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream. The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Theatre Department will perform the comedy in 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Robert E. Will Theatre from April 17 through 19 and April 23 through 26 at 8 p.m. and April 19 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the April 19 performance will benefit the Thomas R. Pezzullo Memorial Scholarship Fund. <\/p>\n

A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream is a romantic comedy in which lovers, tradesmen, elves and fairies converge in the forest where the unexpected lies behind every bush and tree. Lovers pledge their love, then run from parental strictures. Other lovers chase after them only to be waylaid by elves and fairies. In the woods tradesmen earnestly rehearse a play in celebration of Duke Theseus\u2019 wedding, only to lose their leading player, Bottom, through the mischief of Puck, emissary of Oberon, the Fairy King. <\/p>\n

Though Shakespeare lived long before Freud, he understood the workings of the unconscious human mind\u2014how fear of commitment can create the need for a sometimes-feverish dream journey. So Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena must lose their way to find their way. So Hippolyta, Theseus\u2019 captive Amazon warrior must come to truly love her captor before marrying him and Oberon will awaken Titania, his beautiful Fairy Queen from a loathsome spell in a generous act toward loving reconciliation. To top off the proceedings, the tradesman, all amateur actors, perform a tragic love story to hilarious effect, drawing all of us into the rousing wedding festivities that conclude the play. Or were we all dreaming? <\/p>\n

Bryna Wortman directs this merry romp with a cast of 26 溏心vlog免费B站 students\u2014freshmen through super seniors. Set designs are by Cheryl deWardener, costume designs by Marilyn Salvatore, lighting designs by Deb Sullivan, and sound design by David Roy. <\/p>\n
