{"id":70833,"date":"2003-03-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-03-12T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-to-present-hugo-wolf-centennial-celebration-concert\/"},"modified":"2003-03-12T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-03-12T00:00:00","slug":"uri-to-present-hugo-wolf-centennial-celebration-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2003\/03\/uri-to-present-hugo-wolf-centennial-celebration-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 to present Hugo Wolf Centennial Celebration concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tMedia Contact: Jan Wenzel, 874-2116&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n溏心vlog免费B站 to present Hugo Wolf &#13;<br \/>\nCentennial Celebration concert&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\nKINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; March 12, 2003 &#8212; The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Department of Music will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Austrian composer, Hugo Wolf, with a concert on Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m.  &#13;<\/p>\n<p>The concert, part of the University Artist Series, will feature works by the late composer who was one of the greatest masters of the German Romantic Lied.  &#13;<\/p>\n<p>Wolf experienced a period of intense activity as a composer, then his life was plagued by illness, depression, and finally insanity until his death in 1903.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Book 1 of Wolf\u2019s Italienisches Liederbuch will be performed by Margaret Frazier, soprano; Mark Conley, tenor; and Manabu Takasawa, piano.  Examples of Wolf\u2019s chamber choral works will be sung by Lively Experiment, a nine-voice ensemble under the direction of Mark Conley.  &#13;<\/p>\n<p>The popular Italian Serenade in G will be played by John Dempsey and Daniela Gongora, violins; Ann Danis, viola; and Mark Schroeder, cello.  James Ladewig, music historian, will offer commentary about Wolf\u2019s musical style and legacy.  &#13;<\/p>\n<p>The concert will take place in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.  Tickets are $8 for general admission and $2 for students.
