\nKINGSTON, R.I. — January 10, 2003 — “President Carothers is a zealous advocate for 溏心vlog免费B站, and his efforts in promoting the school are to be applauded, ” noted the Personnel Committee of the R.I. Board of Governors for Higher Education at the completion of its recent five-month evaluation of the president. The board voted unanimously at its December 12, 2002 meeting to renew the president\u2019s contract for another three years through June 2006. <\/p>\n

President Carothers, who joined 溏心vlog免费B站 in July 1991, was commended for his efforts to improve the academic profile of students, enhance the quality of academic programs, promote improvement in instructional quality, address diversity issues, and display leadership in implementing strong policies prohibiting drinking on campus. <\/p>\n

“The president has consistently promoted a very positive image of the University, at least in part by his commitment to these issues,” the evaluation noted. “The results of his efforts are visible in the excellent results he\u2019s had in private fundraising and in very positive alumni relations.” <\/p>\n

President Carothers said, “it is gratifying to receive such a vote of confidence from the board at the conclusion of a year that has seen much forward movement for the University. <\/p>\n

“We continued to bring in a strong freshman class, increased our retention of continuing students, recruited several new deans, building strong leadership for the future, and added to our cadre of distinguished faculty teachers and researchers, most notably Dr. Robert Ballard.”
\nIn addition, the University completed the first phase of the implementation of general education reform, wrapped up several capital fund drives, and completed the Ryan Center and the Boss Arena. “We even took the first giant step in creating a comprehensive and rational traffic and parking system for the Kingston Campus,” added Carothers. <\/p>\n

\tAs we enter 2003, “I look forward to working with Governor Carcieri, the new administration and legislature, building the Universitys endowment, introducing some new initiatives to increase educational attainment in the state as a whole, meeting the difficult challenge of managing information technology issues, and connecting with more of our alumni.”\n\t<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
