\nPROVIDENCE, R.I. — August 6, 2002 — The 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus Gallery will display work by a diverse group of local families of visual and performing artists, illustrating the legacy of creative expression inherited, fostered, and passed on from generation to generation. The exhibit “Inherited Gifts” runs Sept. 1 through Sept. 27. <\/p>\n

The multimedia exhibit includes ceramics, drawing, painting, etching, tag art, computer graphics, photography, and videos of jazz and classical musicians, drama, tap, jazz, and modern dance, poetry and prose performances. The exhibit will include a portrait of each family in written and photographic forms. <\/p>\n

The exhibit features works by the Barros\/Prout, Bose, Dilworth, Mijares\u201a Pennell, Almond, Pickard, Ruffin-Ward, Tomasselli and Petronio families. <\/p>\n

Here is a snapshot of some of the work that will be represented: The Barros and Prout families are second and third generation Cape Verdeans Americans who grew up in Fox Point. Matt is a renowned painter and his brother Manny, an accomplished singer and jazz musician. Together they have a visual and performing art studio in South Providence with a professional recording studio. Their brother Ben Boaventura is a painter with a gallery in New Bedford. Matt\u2019s daughter, Barbia Barros Gizzi is an accomplished painter married to Michael Gizzi, a poet. The family also includes the Prouts — Robert is a painter, son David is a musician and Quentin, a poet. <\/p>\n

Melody Ruffin-Ward of Providence, a dancer and choreographer, is on the faculty of Rhode Island College. Her father is a classical pianist. Her husband, Frank Ward, is a professional opera singer (baritone); their daughters Joy and Hope play piano, recorder, dance, paint, and draw. <\/p>\n

Rev. Jonathan Almond of Providence, the pastor of Mathewson Street United Methodist Church, is a watercolorist. His father, the late Rev. Lawrence Almond, formerly of Providence, was also a painter and poet. Jonathan\u2019s son is a furniture designer. <\/p>\n

Robert Dilworth, a professor of art at 溏心vlog免费B站, is a painter who works in a variety of media. His son, Nazara at Hope High School is a budding visual artist. <\/p>\n

The 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus Gallery is located at 80 Washington Street, <\/p>\n

Providence in the 1st and 2nd floor lobbies. Gallery hours are Monday through <\/p>\n

Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Gallery Night reception will be held on Thursday Sept. 19 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. <\/p>\n
