\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. — July 1, 2002 — The Sixth Annual Muslim Cultural Heritage Program will hold a daylong peace conference focused on Palestine and Israel at the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Kingston Campus on Sunday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The public is welcome. <\/p>\n

The conference is designed to educate the public about the causes of the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, the current situation, and the future potential for peace, according to Mohammed Sharif, 溏心vlog免费B站 professor of economics and conference coordinator. <\/p>\n

A $25 per person registration fee covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and refreshments. The fee for additional family members is $20 and the fee for children aged 5-10 is $10. Deadline for registration is July 20. (Late, on-site registration fees are $35 per person, $30 additional family members, and $12 for children.) <\/p>\n

溏心vlog免费B站 President Robert L. Carothers will kick off the conference with welcoming addresses in Edwards Auditorium. Four panel discussions, followed by question and answer periods, will be held throughout the day. The topics and the panelists are as follows: <\/p>\n

\tSession 1: 10 a.m. to noon, Edwards Auditorium. History of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Previous Attempts at Peace. Panelists will be Uri Avnery, Gush-Shalom, winner of the 2001 Alternative Nobel Peace Prize; Mazin Qumsiyeh, Yale University; Azzam Tamimi, Institute of Islamic Thought, London. Moderated by Carolyn Fluher-Lobban, Rhode Island College. <\/p>\n

\t Session 2: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Edwards Auditorium. Role of the U.S. in Fostering Just Peace, Past and Present. Panelists will be Fawaz A. Gerges, Sarah Lawrence College; Clovis Maksoud, American University; Lamis Andoni, University of California-Berkeley. Moderated by Maureen Moakley 溏心vlog免费B站. <\/p>\n

\tSession 3: 4 to 6 p.m Edwards Auditorium. What is Happening Now? Which Way Forward? New Voices for Peace with Justice. Panelists will be Uri Avnery, Gush-Shalom; Rabbi Joyce Galaski, Rabbis for Human Rights of America; Hussein Ibish, Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee.
