\n\t\t<\/a>KINGSTON, R.I. — September 14, 2004 — The 溏心vlog免费B站 will celebrate the importance of diversity and identity in higher education, the workplace, the community and the world during its 8th Annual Diversity Week, Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 on the Kingston campus. <\/p>\n


\nThe week is brimming with arts, music, dance, film and other activities and features such crowd-pleasing favorites as the Poetry Slam, the Diversity Video and Film Festival, the Pangaea Roots Music Series, dozens of workshops and more. Some of the events have been so well-attended in recent years, live broadcasts are planned. Most events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nA few of the week’s highlights include: <\/p>\n


\nThe week’s activities get underway at noon on Monday, Sept. 27<\/b>, with a Fiesta de Diversidad at the Multicultural Center. The Center will be buzzing that afternoon and evening with workshops such as Diversity on the Web, a new panel discussion on diversity in the classroom and the 5th Annual Graduate Student Symposium on diversity. The premier Annual Multicultural Center Poetry Slam<\/b> and Open Mic at 8 p.m. in the Hardge Forum will close out the day.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday<\/b>, the 8th Annual Diversity Video and Film Festival will shine with an array of video offerings from 9:30 a.m. \u2013 3:15 p.m. at the Multicultural Center including “The Politics of Love in Black and White,” which explores inter-racial relationships and “Who Defines the Other?” a photographic and educational presentation. The day closes with the Multicultural Center’s co-sponsorship of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium speaker, Anuradha Mittal, who is an internationally renowned expert on trade, development, human rights and agriculture issues. Mittal will speak about “The New Human Rights Movement: Linking Ecology with Equity.”<\/p>\n

On Wednesday<\/b>, workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Memorial Union. The workshops are arranged under four themes: Storytelling; Peace Building\/Uses of Power; Social Justice; and Wellness. Some of the more than 20 talks include: “Fantastic Tales: A Focus on Families and Friends around the World”; “Peace Building and Colombia” and “Alternatives to The War on Terror”; “Careers for Queers: Gay-Friendly Jobs and How to Find Them”; and “Belly Dance: An Expressive and Emotional Middle Eastern Art Form,” and more. An “Open Discussion on Latinos and the Social and Political System in Rhode Island” will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Center.<\/p>\n

On Thursday<\/b> participants will enjoy several different programs from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in celebration of art and music including A Film Documentary on French Rap Music, a performance by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Chorus and more.<\/p>\n

On Friday<\/b>, the week’s celebrations come to an end with more activities and the 溏心vlog免费B站 Pangaea Roots Music Series’ presentation of Rokia Traore, a singer\/songwriter\/guitarist from Mali at 8 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium.<\/p>\n
