  {"id":70198,"date":"2004-06-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/cape-verde-vistas-featured-at-uris-feinstein-providence-campus\/"},"modified":"2004-06-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-06-30T00:00:00","slug":"cape-verde-vistas-featured-at-uris-feinstein-providence-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2004\/06\/cape-verde-vistas-featured-at-uris-feinstein-providence-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Cape Verde Vistas&#8221; featured at 溏心vlog免费B站&#8217;s Feinstein Providence Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\t<i>Gallery Night Reception July 15, 5-9 pm <\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Provart62004ronbarboza.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" align=\"right\"\/>PROVIDENCE, R.I. &#8212; June 30, 2004 &#8212; &#8220;Cape Verde Vistas: A history, a people, and a culture&#8221; will be celebrated through a new exhibition at The 溏心vlog免费B站&#8217;s Feinstein Providence Campus during the month of July in recognition of Cape Verdean independence.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nFree and open to the public, the exhibit runs through Aug. 6, 2004, with a Gallery Night Reception on Thursday, July 15th, from 5 to 9 p.m. The reception includes a special performance by renowned storyteller Len Cabral at 7:30 p.m. The Gallery is located in the first and second-floor lobbies at 80 Washington St. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/provart6-04rbarros.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" align=\"left\"\/>The mixed media exhibit explores the Cape Verdean history and culture through painting, illustration, collage, photography, creative writing, storytelling, music and artifacts from local Cape Verdean communities in Fox Point Providence, East Providence, and New Bedford, Mass.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe exhibit features works by: photographer and historian Ron Barboza (one of his photographs is shown above), painter Boaventura &#8220;Ben&#8221; Barros, and illustrator Terencio Lopes of New Bedford, Mass; painter Matt Barros (one painting is shown at left), photographer Dean Delomba, painter and journalist Alberto T. Periera, and collage artist Barbeo Barros-Gizzi, and artifacts from Elisa Ferreira of Providence; painter Jorge Miranda of Rumford, R.I.; painter and illustrator Maurice Costa of Boston; Poet, Sculptor, illustrator Vasco RA Pires of E. Falmouth, Mass.; and painter David Ferreira of Cape Verde.
