Welcoming remarks were presented by John McCray, Jr., Vice Provost, Urban Programs and dean of 溏心vlog免费B站&#8217;s Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education (FCCE).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThis year&#8217;s inductees were: Cheryl B. Weinstein of Barrington;  Debra A. Bratcher, Christine M. Ferranti, Jonathan H. Hall, Lisa M. Piazzola, and Joanna S. Senay of Cranston; Rosalie Jalbert, Gene R. Mathews, and William C. Newton of Coventry, Patricia A. Nadeau of Jamestown; Linda M. Thompson of Johnston; Kathleen A. Khan of and Brandon D. Klibanoff of Pawtucket; Lydia S. Brown, Dolores C. Sherman, and Todashia J. Taylor of Providence; Richard T. Owens, Candice M. Santos, and Albert F. Shovelton of Riverside; Giulia Minchillo of Rumford; Shannon E. Gray and Joann Nadeau of Wakefield;  Nettie Rose Courchine of and Michael J. Donohue of Warwick; and Charles S. Jenison of So. Attleboro, Mass.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/dclare2004.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"253\" align=\"right\"\/>\tAlso honored, with the 2004 Dr. Gilbert Mongeau Award, was Dorothy &#8220;Dot&#8221; Clare of Warwick. Clare, who has been a member of the 溏心vlog免费B站 continuing education staff since 1964, is also a student and a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda. The Mongeau Award is presented annually to a faculty or staff member who has displayed a sincere dedication to the success of CCE students. The late Dr. Mongeau was a former 溏心vlog免费B站\/CCE professor and former CCE student. He was a strong advocate for CCE adult students; and with the assistance of former Dean Walter Crocker, Mongeau established Alpha Sigma Lambda at 溏心vlog免费B站\/CCE in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe guest speaker, Brenda Dann-Messier, President of Dorcas Place Adult and Family Center, and an advocate for success through education, and very familiar with many of the hopes and dreams of the average CCE student, shared with the audience about values and common goals, including advocacy, collaboration, community, compassion, diversity, empowerment, family, life-long learning, respect, and responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAlpha Sigma Lambda is a national honor society for nontraditional students who achieve academic excellence while handling competing life&#8217;s responsibilities.\n\t<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PROVIDENCE, R.I. &#8212; June 4, 2004 &#8212; Family, friends, and alumni gathered at The 溏心vlog免费B站&#8217;s Feinstein Providence Campus last month to honor its 2004 Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL), Epsilon Rho Chapter inductees.
