The talk will take place at noon in the Coastal Institute Auditorium, 溏心vlog免费B站 Bay Campus, Narragansett.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tCurrent projects the NBEP is working on include<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\no\tThe Town Pond Habitat Restoration Project&#8211;The Bay Program has begun working with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Town of Portsmouth, and other partners to restore the valuable coastal habitat that was lost, by reconstructing the historic salt pond and marsh system.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\no\tThe Narragansett Bay Reverse Trends Analysis Project&#8211;The NBEP, 溏心vlog免费B站, Environmental Data Center, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and UMASS\/Natural Resources Assessment Group are presently working cooperatively to develop new planning tools that will promote a coordinated bay-wide approach to habitat restoration.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\no\tCoastal Wetland Restoration Analysis in Narragansett Bay&#8211;The NBEP is coordinating a cooperative project funded by RIDEM Aqua Fund Program to identify estuarine wetland sites for potential restoration projects in Narragansett Bay. The project is modeled after watershed restoration planning work performed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Massachusetts Wetlands Restoration and Banking Program.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\no\tMapping Ecologically Critical Resources in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island: Eelgrass Beds and Salt Marsh Habitats&#8211;The protection, management and restoration of critical resources is a high priority item in the NBEP\u2019s Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan. In February 1995, following a NBEP\/溏心vlog免费B站 Coastal Resources Center symposium on bay issues, the NBEP assembled an Aquatic Habitat Mapping Subcommittee which included personnel from various agencies, academic institutions, and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\tThe NBEP also publishes the Narragansett Bay Journal, a quarterly newsletter that provides information on the bay and its watersheds. The newsletter is free to subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tEstablished in 1985 to support and promote the activities of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Graduate School of Oceanography, Friends of Oceanography informs and educates the membership and the general public about the scientific, technological, and environmental research that takes place at GSO. The organization sponsors public lectures, open houses, marine-related mini-courses, science cruises on Narragansett Bay, and an annual auction.
