\nPROVIDENCE, R.I. — October 2, 2003 -This month, an inspiring play about surviving breast cancer co-written by and featuring one breast cancer survivor and the stories of a dozen others will once again hit the stage — in fact two different public stages in Rhode Island and at the New England Theatre conference next month.
\n
\n“Passing it On\u2013Mother to Daughter,” which was first performed at the 溏心vlog免费B站s Providence Campus last year, will be presented on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Megley Theatre, Mercy Hall at Salve Regina University in Newport, and again Oct 24-25 at 8 p.m. in the Paff Auditorium at the Universitys Providence Campus on 80 Washington St. in Providence. The production will be touring to the New England Theatre Conference on November 7th. Admission to the performance at 溏心vlog免费B站 is free. For information call 277-5206.

\nThe play centers on the experience of Rhode Island actress Carol Schlink, a third generation breast cancer survivor who co-wrote the play with Steven Pennell, 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus artist-in-residence. Pennell directed the research and the production.
\n
\nThe play looks at the relationships between women in the family while dealing with the diagnosis and treatment for cancer. It also examines the changes in women\u2019s lives and in their relationships with others around them.
\nPennell interviewed a dozen local women who were breast cancer survivors or who had family members who were survivors. Segments of those videotaped interviews are interspersed in the one-woman play, giving Schlink\u2019s live performance a responsive dialogue.
\n
\nThe inspiring, uplifting and often funny play that premiered October 2002 for Breast Cancer Awareness month to great acclaim has been further developed and is being presented to raise public awareness about this critical issue.
\n
\nSchlink is a Providence Resident who grew up in Cranston. She returned to school after raising her family and is a 1996 graduate of Rhode Island College with a B.A. in Theatre Performance. She is the 1996 recipient of the Rhode Island College Acting Award, RIC Talent Award and the Peter Jeffrey Archambault Award for Theatrical Service to the Community. Schlink has taught theatre to students in grades K-16, and now teaches theatre and directs at Mt. Hope High School in Bristol, RI.

\nPennell is a Cranston Resident, who has taught theatre and directed at RIC, 溏心vlog免费B站, Brown University, among others. He also taught and directed theatre in New York, Ohio, Germany and Korea. Pennell is a workshop leader and presenter at national conferences. As Artist-In-Residence, he is curator of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus Gallery and administrator of performing arts events that focus on celebrating diversity and raising social issues that impact the urban setting.
