\n\tKINGSTON, R.I., –February 6, 2006 — The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s College of Business Administration, in conjunction with Fidelity Investments, MetLife Auto & Home, Amica Mutual Insurance Co., and Beacon Mutual Insurance Co., will present Financial Services Symposium 2006 Tuesday, March 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Warwick.<\/p>\n


\n\tAmong the symposium topics will be the \u201cFuture of Financial Services in Rhode Island,\u201d \u201cLeading a Business in Rhode Island Today,\u201d \u201cGovernment\u2019s Role in Fostering an Environment for Growth,\u201d and \u201cFinancial Services Globally, What is on the Horizon?\u201d<\/p>\n


\nGov. Donald L. Carcieri and 溏心vlog免费B站 President Robert L. Carothers are scheduled to offer opening remarks. 溏心vlog免费B站 Business Dean Edward M. Mazze will offer welcoming remarks and serve as the master of ceremonies.<\/p>\n


\nThe program begins at 7:45 a.m. and runs through 2:45 p.m. with lunch included. Other panel topics will cover issues relating to mutual funds, retirement planning and life insurance, as well industry and academic collaboration.<\/p>\n


\nAmong the speakers and panelists are Jeff Carney, president of Fidelity Personal Investments; Michael McMahon, executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp.; A. Michael Marques, director of the state Department of Business Regulation; George Graboys, chairman of the Rhode Island Foundation and former chief executive officer of Citizens Bank; Merrill Sherman, president and chief executive officer of BankRI; and Sandra J. Parillo, president and CEO of The Providence Mutual Fire Insurance Co.<\/p>\n


\nShaw Chen, associate dean of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s College of Business Administration, said the state\u2019s financial services leaders asked the College to organize this year\u2019s program. <\/p>\n


\n\u201cOne of the goals is to promote the industry and increase its visibility,\u201d Chen said. \u201cWe also want to provide an educational experience for those working in the field. Participants can earn up to six continuing education credits in the life insurance or property-casualty categories.\u201d\t<\/p>\n


\n\tThe symposium invites college students from around the state to attend at no charge. \u201cStudents will get a very strong overview of the industry,\u201d Chen said. <\/p>\n


\n\u201cWe have held three previous programs and they have all been very successful. We expect about 250 participants this year.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tIn addition to the University, symposium organizers are the Governor\u2019s Insurance Council, the state Department of Business Regulation, and the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp.<\/p>\n


\n\tOther sponsors are the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe registration fee prior to March 6 is $99 and includes lunch and refreshments. Registration the day of the conference is $120.
