{"id":69420,"date":"2006-02-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-02-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/rhode-island-state-crime-lab-director-to-speak-at-seminar-series\/"},"modified":"2006-02-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2006-02-03T00:00:00","slug":"rhode-island-state-crime-lab-director-to-speak-at-seminar-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2006\/02\/rhode-island-state-crime-lab-director-to-speak-at-seminar-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Rhode Island State Crime Lab director to speak at seminar series"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; February 3, 2006 &#8212; Dennis Hilliard, director of the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory at the 溏心vlog免费B站, will speak Friday, Feb. 10, 3:30 to 5 p.m., Pastore Hall, room 124 as part of the University\u2019s Forensic Science Seminar Series. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHilliard will speak about the activities of the state crime lab, as well as the 溏心vlog免费B站 Forensic Science Partnership, which sponsors the seminar series. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHandling cases from state and local police, the state laboratory analyzes gunshot residue, bullet casings and other firearms evidence, fiber, and hair as well as fingerprints. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nIn addition, the lab examines evidence from state arson cases.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe state crime laboratory is also used by Hilliard to analyze blood alcohol levels and their effect on driving.  Additionally, Hilliard qualifies as an expert in Rhode Island courts.  <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n \u201cI am asked [by the attorney general] to interpret the level [of alcohol in a person\u2019s blood] to test that person\u2019s ability to drive a car.
