\nPROVIDENCE, R.I — September 27, 2005 — The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Feinstein Providence Campus will host the 27th Annual \u2018Take Back the Night\u2019 event with speakers, a march through the streets of Providence, and a concert on Friday, September 30th.<\/p>\n


\nFree and open to the public, the events begin at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus on 80 Washington St. in Providence.<\/p>\n


\nThe 27th Annual Take Back The Night March Against Violence Against Women begins at 6:30 pm 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus. An opening ceremony will feature guest speakers, including Donna M. Hughes, 溏心vlog免费B站 Professor and Eleanor M. and Oscar M. Carlson Endowed Chair in Women’s Studies, Alison Bologna from WJAR News Channel 10 and a drumming performance by DrumSisters.<\/p>\n


\nThe march through Providence will be followed at 8 pm by a free concert in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Paff Auditorium with new works entitled \u201cSweet Novena\u201d by local composer and jazz artist Kim Trusty. Ms. Trusty\u2019s work was inspired by and honors her mother and her grandmother and their battles with cancer and elder abuse.<\/p>\n


\nIn it\u2019s 27th year, the march is an international event against violence against women. Rhode Island has participated since 1979 in this symbolic \u201cspeak out\u201d against all forms of violence against women in the home, on the streets and in the workplace. It is a gathering to break the silence about continued abuse of women, and to celebrate the accomplishments realized through the hard work of volunteers, staff-members, boards of directors, law enforcement, and legislators.<\/p>\n


\nAlso at the event is an exhibit of the Clothesline Project and Simone Spruce Speaks – 400 Years of Silence: Afrocentricity, a series of works by Simone Spruce inspired by 15 Apocrypha Books focusing on contemporary black issues, issues of black men, breast cancer and domestic violence. Spruce is an African-American woman artist new to Rhode Island. The exhibit will feature three books of her work. The artworks amplify contemporary issues in light of spiritual writings, moral and ethical principals. The exhibit is located at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus first and 2nd floor lobbies. <\/p>\n


\nThe Take Back The Night march, concert and exhibit is sponsored by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence Campus and begins the recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.<\/p>\n
