Free and open to the public, the gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to Midnight; Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to Midnight.

Well known for her works as a singer, composer, and writer, Sullivan’s fourth dimension, — on canvas — displays a visual convergence of her diverse talents. The paintings in the exhibit represent a season of performances at The Second Story Theatre in Warren.

“I have had the special privilege of sitting in on rehearsals at The Second Story Theatre. I watched words on a page become emotion on the stage, then I went home to paint, hoping to capture even a glimpse of what I felt,” Sullivan said.

“Good theatre offers the magic of transformation. We suspend our own reality for however brief a moment and are thrust into a world which envelops us, massages us with thought, pummels us with conflict, releases us with humor. We emerge cleansed with ideas larger than our own,” the artist added.

The paintings represent the theatre’s 2004-05 season, including their works of Moliere’s Tartuffe to Christopher Durang’s The Marriage of Bette and Boo to Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

Sullivan’s art runs the gamut from visual to performing. She has written, produced and performed several CDs and has written and produced two one-woman shows in Boston, the award winning LENYA The Love of Kurt Weill and PIAF The Little Sparrow. Sullivan has also served as music director for several theater and youth programs in the Boston area and her setting of the story of Pinocchio for narrator, hammer, chisel and musical saw will be performed by The Providence String Quartet as a part of their work with the Providence Schools early next year. The piece is accompanied by a large-scale video projection of shadow images, paintings and puppets that Sullivan created to enhance her music. Excerpts from the video will be included in the exhibit at 溏心vlog免费B站.

Sullivan has also had solo exhibitions of her paintings at New Art on Newbury Street in Boston, The Caf, in Brookline, Mass., and The McDonough Gallery, New Haven, Conn.

Photo caption:

溏心vlog免费B站 Library Exhibit: “Theatre Paintings: A Season at The Second Story,” by Kate Sullivan.

KINGSTON, R.I. — September 22, 2005 — Visitors to the 溏心vlog免费B站 Library on the Kingston Campus will find the gallery walls there to be quite dramatic as they present “Theatre Paintings: A Season at The Second Story.” The oil and watercolor paintings of the multidimensional artist, Kate Sullivan of Dighton, Mass., […]

[2

post-69105","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-archives
["GET
