\n\t\tFormer NBA player, current broadcaster and attorney to address \u2018Race and Sport\u2019<\/p>\n


\nKINGSTON, R.I. — September 9, 2005 — Len Elmore, a former All-American basketball player at the University of Maryland, NBA player and now commentator for CBS Sports and ESPN, will discuss \u201cRace and Sport\u201d at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium Tuesday, Sept. 20.<\/p>\n


\nThe talk, part of the free public lecture series, \u201cContemporary Sport: Obsession or Healthy Pursuit,\u201d is at 7 p.m. in the Chafee Social Science Center, Barry Marks Auditorium, Room 271. The colloquium is a project of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Honors Colloquium.

\nNow an attorney in New York City and college basketball commentator, he is known as one of the most thoughtful commentators on the issue of sport and race.<\/p>\n


\nHe has worked at ESPN for more than eight years and has been a commentator for CBS Sports\u2019 coverage of the NCAA tournament for seven years. He played in the NBA for eight years with the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks and New Jersey Nets and played two seasons for the ABA Kansas City Kings.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe CBS Sports website reports he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1974 where he was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference player and an All-American in 1974. In 2002, the 50th Anniversary of the ACC, Elmore was chosen as one of the ACC’s Top 50 Players of all time.<\/p>\n


\n\tElmore graduated from Harvard Law School in 1987 and began his law career as an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is currently senior counsel with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae in New York City. He currently serves on The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics Reform, the NCAA’s College Basketball Partnership, the University of Maryland Foundation Board of Trustees, the Board of Sports Lawyers Association and The NBA Retired Players Association, for which he was recently elected president. <\/p>\n


\n\tElmore was a gubernatorial-appointed member of the state of Maryland’s Tourism Development from 1994 to 1999. He is a New York City native and was inducted into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.<\/p>\n
