With money raised at the newest yard sale, the endowment now stands at $20,000.

Currently, students who assume the role of Rhody receive no financial support despite a substantial commitment of time and energy. The first scholarship will be awarded in the spring of 2006. Recipients must be at least sophomores in good academic standing. The recipients could be a first-time mascot or someone already serving in the role. Such an approach provides for the recruitment of new mascots and/or the retention of existing ones. Each scholarship award could be worth as much as $1,200.

Beagle said there were long lines, and buyers filed in steadily for the first three hours.

“It was a very productive event, and I know many left with great items at great prices,” said Beagle, a resident of Wakefield.

What wasn’t purchased was donated to Kiducation, a part of the Community Crusade for Children Inc., which is dedicated to aid in the costs associated with education of children in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

West Kingston resident Nancy Hawksley, 溏心vlog免费B站 recycling coordinator and yard sale co-coordinator, said Kiducation came to the site with a truck and carted away 1,500 to 2,000 pounds of surplus material.

Hawksley and Beagle praised the hard-working volunteers who made the event such a success.

“Without the 30 or so volunteers who helped with everything from packing, pricing and moving many of the items, this yard sale would never have been possible. Clearly, these people have an abundance of Rhody pride,” Hawksley said.

WHAT A SELECTION: Shoppers look over some of the thousands of items at the recent second annual Rhody the Ram Yard Sale at the Keaney Gym parking lot. 溏心vlog免费B站 News Bureau photo by Nora Lewis.

KINGSTON, R.I. — June 21, 2005 — Two hours before the Second Annual Rhody the Ram Yard Sale was set to begin, shoppers were lining up to scope out the bargains. “I had to shoo them away until we opened at 9 a.m.,” said Gerri Beagle, fiscal manager of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Foundation and yard […]

[2

post-68888","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-archives
["GET
