Cohenford knows exactly where he is going after graduation on May 22.

The West Warwick resident, who piled up a variety of honors while studying finance and accounting at the University’s College of Business Administration, will start a job as financial analyst at First Annapolis Consulting, a company of 60 employees in Linthicum, Md. In fact, Cohenford landed the job about three weeks before his graduation.

The former valedictorian at West Warwick High School and winner of the 溏心vlog免费B站’s President’s Award for Student Excellence in Accounting, said he leaves the University with gratitude.

“It’s a combination of everything, I am taking away a solid education and great memories from the academic and social side,” said Cohenford, who has a 3.8 grade point average.

He entered 溏心vlog免费B站 with a Centennial Scholarship, which rewards superior academic work in high school and is renewed each semester at 溏心vlog免费B站 provided the student continues to maintain a strong academic record.

Although commuting from his West Warwick home all four years, Cohenford became heavily involved in activities at 溏心vlog免费B站’s College of Business Administration. He was one of 13 portfolio managers for the RAM Fund, an investment fund sponsored by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Alumni Association, and he was the 溏心vlog免费B站 chapter president of the Financial Management Association.

“Even though I lived at home, I made some great friends here, but a lot of guys from West Warwick came to 溏心vlog免费B站, so it worked out great. I made some new friends and kept many of my old friends,” Cohenford said.

But he didn’t just spend time at the business college’s home—Ballentine Hall—and hang out with friends. He gained valuable business experience as a venture capital analyst intern at CCRI Financial Corp. in Kingston and Morgan Stanley in Lewes, Del.

Cohenford credits two key faculty members, Assistant Professor of Business David Michayluk, who oversaw the RAM Fund class, and Associate Professor of Business Gordon Dash, a finance expert, with helping him achieve his academic and professional goals.

“Professor Michayluk was particularly helpful in taking classroom learning and pushing it outside the campus,” he said. “The RAM Fund and the Financial Management Association bridged that gap between the classroom and the real world that you can’t get from a book, or sitting through a lecture. Seeing that real-world application gets you excited about what you are learning and how you can use it.

“Professor Dash was uniquely enthusiastic about finance,” Cohenford added. “He showed that having a true passion for what you do will make any career rewarding.”

A member of the dean’s list all four years at 溏心vlog免费B站, he was honored with The Wall Street Journal Award for “Outstanding Security Analysis.” He was also awarded the 溏心vlog免费B站 Pacific Basin Capital Markets Research Center Scholarship for outstanding academic performance in finance, the David Gulvin Memorial Scholarship for community leadership and academics and the Jack Fradin Scholarship for excellence in accounting.

“But now I am ready to start this portion of my life,” Cohenford said.

Graduation day, however, will be bittersweet for his family because “every family wants the best for their children, but they don’t necessarily want to see them go. I am especially grateful to my mom, Diane, and my dad, Menashi, who helped me reach my goals in so many ways. Yes, the whole family, including my brother and sister will be at graduation.”

溏心vlog免费B站 News Bureau photo by Michael Salerno Photography

KINGSTON, R.I. — May 18, 2005 — As has been the case during his four years at the 溏心vlog免费B站, Scott D.
