Burnell, a senior majoring in computer science at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, has been chosen as the recipient of the Caldwell Award by the Department of Computer Science.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Caldwell Award goes each year to the senior graduating in computer science with the best academic credentials.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nBurnell, who is from Narragansett, will graduate in May at the top of a strong class of computer science majors.  Not only did he show academic excellence throughout his computer science major, but he also found the time to complete a second major in computer engineering, as well as a minor in mathematics. He also found time to participate in a couple of research projects within the Computer Science Department.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nIn addition to his heavy academic curriculum, he volunteered as an undergraduate teaching assistant, helping both his peers and the faculty in the department.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nAfter graduation, he will work on software development, and is considering returning to school for a master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; April 12, 2005 &#8212; Nathan G.
