\nKINGSTON, R.I. — April 12, 2005 — Two 溏心vlog免费B站 students have been chosen to participate in a national summer housing internship program through the Association of College and University Housing Officers International.<\/p>\n


\nMeeghan Harrington of South Kingstown will complete her internship at the University of Idaho and Princess Garrett of Providence will be at North Carolina State University. Since age and experience are critical to the success of the program, preference is often given to graduate students. Even though Garrett and Harrington are both undergraduates, their level of experience impressed the selection team. Garrett is a second-year resident assistant and Harrington, is a third-year RA.<\/p>\n


\n \u201cAs veteran Browning Hall resident assistants, Princess and Meeghan continue to look for ways to both challenge themselves and bring new ideas and energy not only to their students but also to their staff\u201d says J.T. Cunic, Browning\/Adams hall director. <\/p>\n


\nAccording to Lorrie Miller, assistant director for Housing and Residential Education, \u201cThis is the first time RA\u2019s from 溏心vlog免费B站 have applied for and received association internship opportunities. These young women have served as both leaders and positive role models on campus. I cannot think of two students more deserving of this experience. \u201c<\/p>\n


\nThe association serves more than 900 colleges and universities and 1.8 million students worldwide. The organization offers students internships and employment opportunities at more than 205 colleges and universities. <\/p>\n


\nHarrington will assist the summer conference program at Idaho, as well as supervise RA staff in the summer residence and housing program. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to experience things there, to be exposed to a completely different management style. It\u2019ll be great to bring back to the staff here,\u201d Harrington said. \u201cI matched well with Idaho, and I wanted to go out west because I really wanted to challenge myself, so I\u2019m very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nHarrington and Garrett are engrossed in both their studies and community service. Now in her third year at 溏心vlog免费B站, Harrington has been on the Dean\u2019s List since the first semester of her freshman year. She also serves as Student Entertainment Committee chairperson, Zeta Epsilon Tau Alpha (ZETA) sorority new member educator, Student Life intern, and 溏心vlog免费B站 101 mentor. Last summer, she was also an orientation leader for the incoming freshman class and was also dubbed Homecoming Queen. <\/p>\n


\n\tGarrett serves as secretary for the African American awareness organization, Uhuru Sasa, and was also an orientation leader in 2004. She was a Rhode Island Foundation fellow in 2003, during which she co-wrote a comprehensive leadership curriculum. Garrett also organized a bowl-a-thon, raising about $16,000 for charity and has written an estimated $1 million in grants for organizations. In high school, she was also a member of Youth in Action of Providence and started the Street Outreach Team, which informs teens of the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases and drug abuse. The team is run and controlled strictly by young people in the community.<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cI really like these volunteer jobs,\u201d said Garrett. \u201cYou know you\u2019re working for the greater good, and you learn something from everything you do.\u201d<\/p>\n
