\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. — March 28, 2005 — At 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, April 3rd you have the opportunity to hear a rare and marvelous concert by Derek Lee Ragin, countertenor and Rebel , Baroque Orchestra. <\/p>\n


\nThe program entitled \u201cAn Angel\u2019s Voice: The Legend of Farinelli\u201d is a tribute to the great 18th century Italian soprano castrato, Farinelli and will include works by Handel, Vivaldi, Porpora, Broschi and Telemann. In fact, it was the voice of Derek Lee Ragin heard on most of the video \u201cFarinelli\u201d. <\/p>\n


\nRebel, names for the composer Jean-Fery Rebel, has been acclaimed for their modern, brilliant sound and brilliant baroque technique as well as their enthusiastically vital music-making. <\/p>\n


\nThis concert will be preceded by a preconcert talk at 2 p.m. by Professor Mark Conley demystifying the art of the countertenor. <\/p>\n


\nThis concert takes place in the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, Kingston and is present in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. For further information call 401-874-2627 or 401-874-ARTS.<\/p>\n
