Kirkwood, professor of landscape architecture and technology and chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, is the next speaker in the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Community Planning and Landscape Architecture spring lecture series.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe lecture, \u201cThe Construction of Landscapes,\u201d will be held on March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Weaver Auditorium at the Coastal Institute on 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Kingston campus. It is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tKirkwood has taught at Harvard since 1992 and is the founder and director of the Center for Environment and Technology, a Harvard University research, advisory and executive education initiative. Through his work, Kirkwood emphasizes a broader understanding of current and emerging technologies and techniques for landscape, civil and environmental engineering. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tHe is the award-winning author of The Art of Landscape Detail.  Kirkwood also co-edited Reclaimed: Recovery Processes and Design Practices for Post-Industrial Landscapes and Weathering and Durability in Landscape Architecture, both of which discuss the redevelopment of contaminated sites, including derelict abandoned land from former urban and industrial uses. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tKirkwood is currently researching landfill closures and the redevelopment of decommissioned military bases, industrial and manufacturing complexes, former nuclear production facilities and the use of innovative environmental technologies to address highly toxic sites. <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. &#8212; March 15, 2005 &#8212; Niall G.
