  {"id":68369,"date":"2005-01-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2005-01-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/endeavor-sails-for-the-mediterranean-sea\/"},"modified":"2005-01-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2005-01-20T00:00:00","slug":"endeavor-sails-for-the-mediterranean-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2005\/01\/endeavor-sails-for-the-mediterranean-sea\/","title":{"rendered":"Endeavor Sails For the Mediterranean Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tNarragansett, RI &#8212; January 20, 2005 &#8212; Tomorrow morning the research vessel Endeavor at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Graduate School of Oceanography will cast off her lines, leaving Rhode Island behind for the Mediterranean Sea for a 5-month series of research expeditions. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nWhile in the Mediterranean and Black Seas, the ship\u2019s captain, crew and technicians will support a variety of scientific studies by biologists, chemists, geologists and acousticians funded by the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nResearch projects will involve fundamental studies of marine sediments; the impact that microbes have on the chemistry of low oxygen waters; evaluating a new method to estimate marine mammal abundances; and advancing our understanding of how carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is transformed and transported from the surface ocean to the deep sea. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThese studies will be undertaken by scientists from the 溏心vlog免费B站, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Boston College, University of Connecticut, State University of New York at Stony Brook, Arete Associates, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, University of Virginia, Texas A&amp;M University, University of Washington, Oregon State University, University of California at Santa Cruz and Scripps Institute o f Oceanography. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nScientists from Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Romania and Ukraine will join their U.S. colleagues on the ship.
