\n\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 March 1, 2007 — A teleconference on \u201cLiving with Grief Before and After Death\u2019 will be presented at the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Chafee Social Science Center Thursday, March 22.<\/p>\n


\n\tPresented by 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s College of Nursing and Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, the program will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in Room 101 of the Chafee building, 10 Chafee Road.<\/p>\n


\n\tRegistration is from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The conference is approved for three continuing education credits.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe teleconference will explore the latest theoretical approaches to loss and grief as experienced by persons throughout a life-limiting illness and by survivors. Attention will focus on challenges to conventional wisdom about grieving.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe program will be useful to psychologists, counselors, clergy, social workers, nurses and other health care workers, as well as funeral directors, educators and other school-based personnel.<\/p>\n


\n\tTopics to be examined and discussed:<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Anticipatory grief and anticipatory mourning\u2014approaches for caregivers in assisting patients and families struggling with loss during life-threatening illness;<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Strategies and interventions that professionals can use at the moment of death and during funeral rituals to help survivors cope with loss;<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Ways that understanding grief have changed in the last 20 years and how changes have influenced practice;<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Research on the effectiveness of grief interventions;<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Current debate over a new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders category for complicated grief; and<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2022 Current research and theory on grief reactions of professional caregivers, and ways that individuals and organizations can effectively support grieving staff and volunteers.<\/p>\n
