\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I.\u2014October 2, 2006\u2014 \u201cWhere the Wild Things Are\u201d is the first topic in the 2006-07 溏心vlog免费B站 Landscape Architecture Lecture Series, which kicks off on Oct. 12 with a lecture by Paula Meijerink, assistant professor of landscape architecture at Harvard University\u2019s Graduate School of Design and founding principal of the Boston-based design firm Wanted.<\/p>\n


\nThe talk begins at 8 p.m. in Weaver Auditorium at the Coastal Institute on 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Kingston campus. It is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nA native of the Netherlands who has lectured and published internationally, Meijerink says she has a healthy appetite for political subjects, \u201csuch as the paradoxical nature of our asphalt universe, the liberated quality of the roof deck landscape, and the role of wild nature in our daily lives.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nMeijerink\u2019s talk will address the urban environment and the edge between building and nature. She will present projects that illustrate the conditions and challenges designers face when working in highly urbanized areas for clients desiring to participate with nature.<\/p>\n

\n– March 8, Terry DeWan, principal of Terrance DeWan & Associates, on \u201cWind Power\/Flower Power: Commonalities\/Opportunities;\u201d<\/p>\n


\n– April 5, Warren Byrd, principal of Nelson Byrd Woltz, on \u201cDesign and Sustainability: Are they Mutually Exclusive,\u201d and<\/p>\n


\n– April 19, Meg Calkins, associate professor at Ball State University, on \u201cWhat Makes Sustainable?\u201d<\/p>\n
