It will be of particular interest to farm families, as well as land trusts and others interested in the future of farms and rural lands in Rhode Island.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nCalled \u201cTransferring the Farm,\u201d the event will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University Club, 95 Upper College Rd., Kingston.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nTransferring the Farm is an introductory financial planning and risk management workshop designed to help farm families make informed decisions about transferring the farm to the next generation, according to Ernest Morreira of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Cooperative Extension, who is organizing the program along with Kenneth Ayars, chief of the R.I. Division of Agriculture.  Farm families and owners of agricultural lands, as well as agricultural service providers and organizations interested in agricultural land acquisition are encouraged to attend.&#13;<br \/>\n<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe program will address retirement and estate planning, taxes and legal issues, and it will review effective strategies and tools to determine how best to transfer farm assets. Presenters will include regional and local legal and estate planning professionals, as well as representatives from agricultural land preservation programs, including the Rhode Island Agricultural Lands Preservation Program and area land trusts.  Local farmers that have undertaken farm transfer processes will lead a panel discussion.  <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nSponsors of the program include the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of the Environment and Life Sciences, the 溏心vlog免费B站 Cooperative Extension, the Rhode Island Division of Agriculture, and the University of Vermont Center for Sustainable Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe workshop fee is $15 per person, if postmarked by March 6th, or $25 after that date, and includes registration, handouts and lunch.  <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nRegistration through the UVM Center for Sustainable Agriculture is required.
