Among his key duties are inspecting and evaluating complex and routine fire scenes to determine the area or points of origin and potential causes, identifying the act or activity that brought the ignition source and materials together and assessment of subsequent fire progression.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tMurphy has been with the fire marshal\u2019s office since 1999, serving as an inspector and investigator before taking the senior investigator post.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tA graduate of Toll Gate High School, he earned an associate\u2019s degree in fire science from the Community College of Rhode Island.
