\n\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013August 18, 2008\u2014\u201cBut for the Grace\u2026\u201d the touching play about hunger in Rhode Island by playwright David Eliet, will be performed at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium, 64 Upper College Road, Kingston. The performance is sponsored by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Feinstein Center for a Hunger Free America in collaboration with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. <\/p>\n


\n\tThe one-man show stars Providence actor Bob Jaffe as 11 diverse characters ranging from a 7-year-old boy to a 75-year-old Russian immigrant woman. <\/p>\n


\n\tThe play, commissioned by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, was created from more than 70 interviews with Rhode Island food pantry clients, staff and volunteers. The stories told in this play are as varied as the circumstances that led each character to seek food assistance. Their words explain what life is like when a most basic need \u2013 the need for nourishment \u2013 cannot be met. Through the theater experience, the audience will begin to understand the pain, fear, humiliation and injustice of hunger, as well as the resiliency of the human spirit and the importance of ending hunger.<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cBut for the Grace has been performed in a number of areas in the state, and most recently in New York City, so we are delighted to be able to bring this very moving performance closer to home for South County residents\u201d said Kathleen Gorman, director of the Feinstein Center for a Hunger Free America.<\/p>\n


\n \tThe performances are free and open to the public and donations of canned food or monetary gifts will be gratefully accepted at the door. Six agencies are involved with the promotion of the play and will benefit from any donations. They are the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale, Bradford Jonnycake Center in Westerly, St. Mary\u2019s\/St. James Community Food Pantry in Charlestown, Florence Gray Center (Newport), W.A.R.M. Shelter in Westerly and Welcome House in Wakefield.<\/p>\n
