It is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tIn his lecture, \u201cView From the Loge,\u201d Burck will explore the dynamics of seeing from a particular point of view as a design determinant in landscape architecture.  \u201cI will describe how approaches such as these have given focus to design efforts while empowering and privileging the viewer,\u201d he said.  \u201cWe&#8217;ll look at Roman domestic architecture, 19th century theater design, and the interests that Frederick Law Olmsted and Kevin Lynch shared in considering the visual qualities of procession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSince founding his firm in 1985, Burck has led a team of landscape architects and designers in the conception and construction of spaces ranging from urban and mixed-use to institutional and residential.  The firm has won multiple honors for its designs for Lafayette College\u2019s Skillman Library, Harvard University\u2019s graduate student housing, Boston Public Library\u2019s Honan-Allston Branch, and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBurck has taught or lectured at Harvard University, Mount Holyoke College, Rhode Island School of Design and the Boston Architectural Center, and he has led numerous design efforts for the Boston Society of Landscape Architects as chairman of its Urban Street Tree Planting Symposium and its South Boston seaport District Redesign Open Space Committee.
