Haas Endowed Professorship in Electrical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe gift, which is part of the 溏心vlog免费B站 \u201cMaking a Difference\u201d capital campaign, honors the professor emeritus of electrical engineering who taught at 溏心vlog免费B站 from 1948 to 1988.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cWhen you\u2019re teaching, you never know which students you\u2019re really having an impact on,\u201d said Haas, a resident of Kingston.  \u201cIt was a complete surprise to hear that one of my former students was making such a generous gift in my honor.  I am especially pleased that the gift doesn\u2019t just honor me, it helps 溏心vlog免费B站 and the electrical engineering program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe professorship will help to improve efforts by the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Engineering to attract and retain prominent faculty in electrical engineering. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cGifts to the Haas Endowed Professorship will help us recruit the best faculty and maintain our commitment to academic excellence and professional preparation \u2013 a tradition exemplified by Professor Haas,\u201d said Faye Boudreaux-Bartels, professor and chair of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cI was fortunate to be Professor Haas\u2019 student, and later to be his colleague,\u201d said William Ferrante, 溏心vlog免费B站 professor emeritus of mechanical engineering.  \u201cHis methodical, precise and crystal clear classroom presentations showed me how to learn \u2013 and how to teach.  As a colleague, Bob Haas was a model and mentor to faculty and administrators.  He personified integrity, competence and excellence in teaching.  This endowed professorship is a wonderful tribute to an extraordinary and inspiring teacher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tOriginally from Milwaukee, Haas earned degrees from Marquette and Northeastern universities, and he taught courses in electrical engineering and ocean engineering at 溏心vlog免费B站.   He earned an award for teaching excellence at 溏心vlog免费B站 in 1970, was cited for his teaching in Outstanding Educators of America in 1971 and 1974, and won the Western Electric Fund Award for excellence in engineering teaching in 1974.
