\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2014November 25, 2009– Eight senior 溏心vlog免费B站 art students using a variety of media will showcase their work in Providence and in Kingston. Gallery Z, located at 259 Atwells Avenue in Providence, will host the exhibit from Dec. 2 through 5. An artist reception will be held Dec. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe main gallery at 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Fine Arts Center, 105 Upper College Road, Kingston will exhibit the work Dec. 10 through 15. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday. An artist reception will be held Dec. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n



\n\tThe senior seminar class is a capstone experience in 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s studio arts program. After experimenting in various media in their sophomore and junior years, the students initiate their own projects and focus on that one cohesive project, for an entire semester. This year\u2019s exhibition includes animation, installation, painting, photography and printmaking. <\/p>\n


\n\tJessica Candee created an installation that explores the struggles that her mother and family have experienced after her mother\u2019s diagnosis with rheumatoid arthritis. The depth of this family\u2019s struggle with the disease resonates through the shrine-like quality of the installation.<\/p>\n



\n\tMichelle Caraccia\u2019s painterly monotypes are inspired by the canyon walls of Ts\u00e9yi’, within the Din\u00e9 homeland, in the northeast corner of Arizona. <\/p>\n


\n\tTim Howe\u2019s audio-visual installation explores the ways that fractal geometry suggests the interconnectivity of all carbon-based life.<\/p>\n


\n\tIan Mohon\u2019s black and white photo-based work has intricate detail created by scratching of the photo print surface and from the selective application of paint, collectively alluding to the menacing depth of painful memories.
<\/p>\n


\n\tAlex Henning\u2019s paintings explore evolution and its impact on the environment through the use of vibrant color and symbolic imagery. <\/p>\n


\n\tArdith Wood\u2019s surreal, dreamlike photo animation alludes to life\u2019s uncertainties and possibilities, by taking the viewer down complicated pathways on a sometimes-bumpy journey. <\/p>\n


\n\tSarah Fitzgerald\u2019s abstract images taken in Galilee, R.I. are jewel-like and reveal a different side to an often photographed area.<\/p>\n


\nKatie Picard\u2019s paintings fuse sculptural elements to emphasize the gestural quality of her subjects. Her paintings consist of layered canvases, each a different size.
<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cThis semester\u2019s journey too has been bumpy, but with satisfying end results. As an artist, I know that if a project doesn\u2019t change from what you initially proposed, neither the artist nor the work have grown. The work of these eight young artists has definitely grown,\u201d said Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, coordinator of the exhibition.
